In the weeds

In the restaurant business there's a saying for being faaaaaaaaar behind on your table service: In the Weeds! That's where I am right now with my classroom service. I have been out so many days in the last three weeks with sick children that I have fallen incredibly far behind. Add to that the three clubs (????) that I have somehow found myself sponsoring -- not to mention being a senior class sponsor -- and I just can't seem to get back on top of all the work.

I am really in love with the idea of blogging and using blogging for professional growth and as a classroom instruction tool, but I don't have the time that I would like to sit and explore a variety of blogs from other teachers out there. I feel like there is so much more that I could find, and so many more ideas for using this tool that I am missing out on.

Carrie,
You are doing a great job on your blog so far! Way to hang in there! It sounds like you have been so overwhelmed, but I'm glad you are going to keep on going with this class. I am also a senior sponsor at my school (Wilson Central.) At least we are learning the basics, and can go on from there after this class.

Carrie,
I applaud you for your support of using blogging for professional development. There are many ways small learning communities could use this technology to help create an atmosphere that is open vs. isolated. I welcome ideas from you as to how to open this up to more teachers in our district.

Carrie,
Hang in there! I know how hard it is to be pulled in so many directions, to be doing the best you can on all of it but knowing that it isn't the best you could do individually. It will happen when it happens. As far as incorporating technology in your classroom, I think the (weed)seeds have been planted. As soon as you come across something that would be perfect, you will have the back ground to implement it. Don't try to force it, it will come on its own.
Best of luck!
